Main directions of the institute activity – research and rendering technical assistance to enterprises dealing with:
- mining and processing potassium ores, utilization and storage of wastes
- products of primary processing of ore (natural kainite, composite potash-magnesium fertilizer with increased content of potassium)
- products of halurgical processing of chloride-sulphate polymineral ores (potassium magnesia, potassium sulphate, other types of compound fertilizers)
- coproducts of potassium ore processing (technical evaporated salt,
sea salt for bath, bischofite, mirabilite, polyhalite potash-magnesium fertilizer, magnesium chloride solution as feedstock for producing metallic magnesium and magnesium oxide for the manufacture of refractories and rubber)
2) Environment protection
We handle your orders on the following operation very promptly and at a high technical scientific and technical level:
- study, and generalization of materials in geology, hydrogeology, exploration and prospecting or deposits of polymineral potassium salts, rock salt and geological medium protection;
- expert opinion on geological suitability of general layouts for building in inhabited locality;
- elaboration of measures aimed at localization and liquidation of contamination sources of geological media and methods of burial of production toxic wastes in underground openings;
- development and introduction of process diagrams for ore preparation and extraction with consequent filling in the goafs, mechanization of mining operations at underground and open potassium and other salt deposits;
- study of physical and mechanical, and deformation properties of rock, stowage materials, development of technology for preparation, transportation and filling in the underground openings with processed wastes of potassium ores;
- study and forecasting of rock and earth surface shifts while mining potassium deposits, necessity to shut down the mines in order to protect structures and buildings located in the mined area;
- testing of new types of explosives and explosion facilities, development of recommendations for improvement of drilling and blasting operations and safe mass explosions at excavated and underground potassium deposits;
- development and introduction of processes for polymineral potassium ore comprehensive processing (crushing, dissolution, crystallization, filtration, evaporation, drying);
- improvement of operating production processes and equipment designed for processing polymineral potassium ores (settlers, filters, solvents, vacuum-crystallizers, vacuum-evaporators, fluidized-bed driers);
- physical and chemical studies of processes and products of polymineral potassium ore processing and their analytical analysis;
- development of novel types of chlorine and pollution free potash-magnesium fertilizers with high content of nutrients;
- development of new and improvement of processes in use of salt regeneration from polymineral ore solutions with production of sodium chloride, kainite, carnallite and bischofite;
- development of processes for production of:
- magnesium oxide from magnesium chloride solutions by soda, dolomite and ammonia-carbon dioxide methods;
- compound mineral fertilizers from polymineral ores with increased content of hard-to-dissolve minerals and nitric acid.
