Nikopol Plant of Ferroalloys was built in close location to manganese ore deposits (Nikopol-Marhanets mines), power recourses and transportation routes.
On March 6, 1966 the plant produced its first output, therefore, that date is considered to be the birthday of the plant.
Authorized capital UAH 75.88 million
Number of employees 8,357
Area 53.2 hectares
The plant, one of the biggest producers of manganese ferroalloys, is a leading company striving to expand its production capacities and achieve the world quality standards applicable to ferroalloy production.
The enterprise makes every effort to find the production application of slag. Ferroalloy slag has been subject to recycling since 1972, with hundreds of thousands of liquid and nonutilizable slag being reprocessed annually. In 1978 the plant created production facilities to process liquid slag into ready-made products presented by weighting additives for gas and oil pipelines (which resulted in thousands of tons of cast iron and ferroconcrete saved); bio wear-resistant inwalls for metal parts of metallurgical and chemical equipment.; construction slabs; basement blocks; milling balls, crushing rollers and others.
Nikopol Plant of Ferroalloys was one of the first in Ukraine to introduce changes in its organization structure to adopt the enterprise management system to the market conditions. The last transformations resulted in the formation of organization structure that ensured flexibility of management system, quick response to internal and external business conditions. The newly created structure is focused on providing reliable partnership, dynamic technology development, and prompt implementation of innovation projects, creation of new products and exploration of potential markets for them.
Environment protection
One of the most serious problems that any metallurgical plant faces is how to protect the environment.
Caring about environment is one of the highest-priority issues that Nikopol Plant of Ferroalloys has been dealing with throughout its history of operation. In 1984 the plant created a laboratory for protection of water and atmosphere and it is operational until now. This service controls and ensures the operation activity of the enterprise to be in compliance with norms and regulation of environmental safety. The enterprise has fully defined requirements for production, storage and processing of industrial waste as well as subjects to analyze the production effects on the atmosphere and water. The plant is the only one in the region to maintain and operate six stationary facilities providing air quality information around the clock as well as 179 gas and dust trapping units with a total performance 95 %.
Delivery system
OJSC "Nikopol Ferroalloy Plant" uses different delivery schemes for the material produced:
- From the plant warehouse (the warehouse reserve is up to 22,5 thousand tons);
- To the border of Ukraine up to the stations agreed upon with the client;
- Directly to the market of the final consumer.
The delivery is performed by both railway and sea transport. The main seaports where transshipments are effected are Ventspils (The Baltic Sea), Illychevsk, Yuzhny, Kherson, Kerch (The Black Sea).
Customers of the plant
OJSC "Nikopol Plant of Ferroalloys" has the most considerable capacities for the silico-manganese production in the world (16 electric-arc furnaces with a capacity range of 23-75 MVA) and is one of the major suppliers of the above-mentioned products to the world market. The annual output amounts to 500-800 thousand tons.
Nikopol ferroalloys are supplied to more than 300 metallurgical enterprises in many countries of the world. Among the consumers of NPF products we can distinguish the largest Ukrainian plants (Krivorozhstal, Azovstal, Dneprovsk, Donetsk, Alchevsk metallurgical works) as well as Russian plants (Magnitogorsk, Nizhniy Tagil metallurgical works, OJSC "NOSTA", OJSC "MECHEL", Severstal and others). For many years Nikopol ferroalloys are supplied to Romania, Poland, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Japan and Finland).
After the USSR collapsed, the plant has managed to keep its traditional customers in Belarus, Uzbekistan and Baltic countries.
Active marketing policy of the plant enabled to expand the market and now our products are bought by metallurgical enterprises all over the world.
