Kharkiv Opera Theatre was founded in 1925. In 1944 it was named after M. V. Lysenko, the great Ukrainian composer.
A lot of outstanding artists came to the light in Kharkiv.
Famous singers, such as Hayday, Hmyrya, Kozlovsky, Lytvynenko- Volgemut, Manoylo, Kolyvanova, Popescu worked in this theatre.
