Rhone-Poulenc's corporate mission is to contribute to the improvement of human, animal, and plant health and to the quality and safety of products used in daily life.

This mission is reflected in the Group's strategic focus on the core businesses:
- life sciences, covering human healthcare, animal health and plant health;
- special chemicals, including fibres and polymers and high value services through the new created subsidiary Rhodia.

With 68 400 employees spread across 160 countries the Group generated 1997 sales of FF 90 billion.

The Group's strategy, at the dawn of the third millennium focuses on achieving growth through innovation and globalization with particular emphasis on creating value for its customers, its shareholders and its collaborators.

Rhone-Poulenc including its speciality chemicals (Rhodia) have been operating out of Kiev since 1993.
