Kharkiv State Zooveterinary Academy

Kharkov State Zooveterinary Academy - is a state educational establishment of the fourth accreditation level supervised by the Ministry of Agricultural policy of Ukraine.

Kharkov State Zooveterinary Academy was founded in 2001 on the basis of Kharkov Zooveterinary institute - the oldest higber school of veterinary medicine in Ukraine, it was 150 years in September 2001. Its graduates work successfully in 78 countries of the world, on all the continents of our planet including USA, Canada, Great Britain, Japan, China, Panama, Jamaica, Nicaragua, Jordan, Gana, Germany, Bulgaria, Poland, Mongolia, Ethiopia, Congo, Nigeria, Ghana.

The Institute has trained 32 000 zooengineers and doctors of veterinary medicine for agriculture. Among our graduates there are well-known scientists, the founders of scientific and educational schools.

Qualifications received in the Academy, give the possibility to work in veterinary clinics, large animal-breeding farms, agrifirms, meat-processing factories, laboratories of veterinary-sanitation inspection, diagnostic laboratories.

There are 30 departments at the Academy, where 219 full-time staff work including 1 Academician, 4 Corresponding Members of UAAS, 31 professors, Doctors of Veterinary Science, 110 Lecturers, Candidates of Science.

The Academy has 12 buildings, situated compactly, a canteen, a recreation centre, 2 stadiums, 2 sporthalls, a club, shooting gallery, horse-training complex, where there are 40 horses, educational and training practical farm "Progress". All the buildings are situated in the picturesque area not for from Kharkov.

Faculty of Veterinary Medicine trains doctors of Veterinary Medicine:
Specialization:
- treatment of diseases of productive animals;
- small animal disease treatment;
- laboratory service in veterinary medicine;
- veterinary pharmacia;
- veterinary sanitation;
- veterinary-sanitary inspection of food .

Zooengineering Department trains students on:
- zooengineeing ( animal breedeing);
- management of farm enterprizes.

Specializations:
- pedigree cattle breeding;
- piqbreeding;
- technology of animal product processing;
- poultry-farming;
- horse-breeding;
- fish-breeding;
- kinology;
-technology of feed and feed supplements.

Period of study(and fee).
1. Veterinary Medicine - Master of Science - 5 years and 6 months.
2. Zooengineering - Bachelor -5 years.

To improve the curriculum, to adopt them to the European level of training doctors of veterinary medicine the Academy cooperates with Frile University Berlin (Germany), Utrecht University (the Netherlands) and Barneveld college of Practical training (the Netherlands).
