Long times ago Prykarpathia was glorified not only for fine landscapes, but also for riches of soil, first of all by oil and gas. Everybody knows Borislavs' oil fields from which peasants scooped oil, as water from the well. In 1927 in our region the mining of natural gas was adjusted, and it was consumed both in Kyiv, and in Moscow and Minsk.

Rough gasification was beginning in 50-s' years of XX century. The first gas lines have appeared in Stanislav, Kalush, Kolomyja, Nadvirna, Bogorodchany, Tysmenitsa. In 1964 on the basis office "Stanislavgaz" the trust of an industrial and domestic gasification was created, which one in 1975 was transformed into the union "Ivano-Frankivskgaz" - the part of republican "Ukrgaz" (today - NAK « Naftogaz of Ukraine »).

In March 1994 the union was reformed into Open joint-stock company "Ivano-Frankivskgaz". Then its mission - supply of the consumers by «blue fuel» by the most effective and secure method - was determined also. The company is engaged in transportation of gas, and also in complex of operations on exploitation of gas supplies systems, design, building and repair of gas-distributing systems.

All this time a material and technical base of gaseous facilities was actively developed. At region centers 9 operation bases, 7 region posts on filling up of bladders with the reservoir on 100 m3 of liquefiable gas, stockage base of liquefiable gas on 2 000 m3 were constructed.

On the moment of 2001.01.01 in Ivano-Frankivsk region 9 120 kms of distribution gas lines were constructed and opened up, including 81 kms of extremely cost-effective, long-lived and reliable polyethylene gas lines. Now by natural gas 374 occupied points and more than 270 000 flats are supplied, including about 100 000 flats in countryside; more than 120 000 gas meters are installed. Moreover the design documentation on the gasification of 176 occupied points was prepared. Thus, regional housing fund is gasified on 98 % in cities, on 89 % - in settlements of an urban type and on 33 % - in villages.

Today at the joint-stock company 3 250 persons work, 803 from them are engineers, 2 347 - controllers, operatives, walkers of underground gas lines, regulative station etc.

"Ivano-Frankivskgaz" intimately cooperates with unique Ukrainian high school of gas-and-oil profile - Ivano-Frankivsk State technical university of oil and gas. The specialists of the company accept fissile involvement in scientific and research work on an intrusion of new progressive minings and inventions in the practical activity.
