The National Joint-Stock Company "Naftogaz of Ukraine" is a leader in the Ukrainian fuel and energy sector.
The company ensures the effective operation and further development of the oil and gas industry, spurs the structural reforms in the industry under market conditions and encourages foreign investment. Naftogaz does its best to meet both industrial and household demands for fuel and energy in Ukraine and provide reliable oil and gas inter-state transit to both Central and Western Europe.
The company is engaged in the following activities:
- Oil/gas exploration and field exploitation;
- Oil/gas development and exploratory drilling;
- Oil/gas transport;
- Natural gas and LPG supplies to industrial consumers, government institutions, and municipal and household consumers;
- Underground gas storage;
- Processing gas and gas condensate;
- Fuelling vehicles with compressed gas and LPG;
- Motor oil and lubricant production;
- Research support to the industry;
- Servicing industrial facilities.
Ukrgazvydobuvannya State Company, Ukrnafta Public Company and Chornomornaftogaz State Joint-Stock Company, the three affiliated companies of Naftogaz, are involved in production of oil, gas and gas condensate, contributing 97 per cent of the total crude oil, gas condensate and total gas production in Ukraine.
There are six oil refineries in Ukraine, namely Ukrtatnafta Close Company in Kremenchuk, LyNOS Public Company in Lysychansk, Khersonnaftopererobka Public Company in Kherson, Lukoil-Odesa Refinery Public Company in Odesa, NPK Galychyna Public Company in Drogobych, Naftokhimik Prykarpattya Public Company in Nadvirna. The refineries has a total crude oil processing capacity of 52.4 mln. tonnes. Every refinery has secondary refining facilities that use processes such as catalytic cracking, catalytic reforming and hydrofining, and can produce refined oils, bitumen, benzene, toluene, ethylene, polypropylene, etc.
The Ukrainian oil-refining companies meet the major industrial needs for motor oils, fuel oil, lubricants, cutting emulsions, refined oils, petrol and oil additives, solvents and other chemical products for many particular purposes.
Gas and gas condensate are processed by the five Ukrainian gas plants. They are the Gnidyntsi, Kachanivka and Dolyna plants affiliated to Ukrnafta Public Company, and also the Yablunivka gas plant, the Seleschyne condensate stabilisation plant and the gas processing plant at the Yuliivka gas-condensate field.
Two affiliated companies of Naftogas - Ukrtransgaz State Company and Chornomornaftogaz State Join-Stock Company - are gas transport operators in Ukraine. Petroleum transport in Ukraine is under control of Ukrtransnafta Public Company.
