Lviv Rail Ways was organised in 1939. Stretches in Lvov, Rivne, Volyn, Ternopol, Ivano-Frankivsk, Transcarpathian, Chernovtsy regions, part of Zhitomir region (Ukraine), Brest region (Belarus) and Moldova.

It serves vast industrial regions producing coal, oil, machine building, lathes, power, chemical products, oil processing, regions of wood-stocking and wood-processing, depositories of construction materials and agricultural regions producing grain, sugar-beet, cattle stock breeding.
Transit freights include ore, coal, ferrous metals, oil and oil products, amchines, bread.
In the local servicing it carries construction timber, agricultural freights.
