Ukrainian Research Institute of Communications, State Enterprise (UNDIZ)

Ukrainian research institute of communications (UNDIZ) was established in 1991 on the basis of Kyiv branch of the Central research institute of communications (KBCRIC) of the Ministry of telecommunications of the former USSR and is the leading system institute of the State Committee of Communications and Computerisation of Ukraine. In accordance with the Resolution No.92 as of February 4, 1993 it is responsible for scientific and technical provision of the development of telecommunications and postal services in Ukraine, conduct system studies, coordinates the implementation of complex projects between different organizations and enterprises of the State Committee of Communications and Informatization of Ukraine and other Ministries and Agencies.

Sicne 1999 post-graduate courses were established in UNDIZ under the specialities of 05.12.02 and 15.12.13 where the special Scientific Council accepts entrance examination to join the post-graduate courses and the defense of a thesis is taking place for obtaining the scientific title of the Candidate of technical sciences under the speciality of 05.12.13.

The basic directions of the UNDIZ activity are as follows:

- Resolving general issues and the developing concepts and regulations which define the scientific and technical policy of the telecoms industry and the coordinating relations between operators;
- Development of technologies, technical facilities and issues of functioning and developing telecommunication systems (transport network, access network, telephone, document and postal communications);
- Developing issues of electric power supply and saving power resources of telecomms enterprises;
- Developing issues of maintenance and system operation management of telecoms networks;
- Research in new systems and advanced technologies (ATM, IN etc);
- Developing branch regulation documents for the standardization in the telecom industry;
- Certification of telecomms systems, technical facilities and services;
- Development of regulation documents on issues of labor protection, safety engineering at the enterprises and offices, and information protection in telecomms industry;
- International co-operation and representation and protection of Ukrainian interests in the international organizations.
- Performance of systematic works in the industry of telecommunications and postal services.
- Scientific – technical support in implementation of the complex program for the creating a United national telecommunication system of Ukraine; provisioning of the interworking of systematic studies in different sub-industries of telecommunications and postal services with the studies in radio communication systems, broadcasting and TV.


Every year in UNDIZ holds and international workshops and conferences devoted to problems and trends of development in telecommunications.

In 1996 the Center of the certification tests «UNDIZ» was established in UNDIZ which consists of seven testing laboratories acting in accordance with all directions of telecommunications and postal services.
