The institute of cultivation and genetics of animals is created in 1975, as the unique scientific and coordination center on genetics and selections of animals in Ukraine.

The structure of institute:
- department of cultivation of dairy cattle with five laboratories;
- department of cultivation of meat cattle, in structure of which three laboratories;
- department of genetics with four laboratories;
- department of biotechnology of animals with three laboratories;
- department of computer science and computer programming;
- the Cherkasy branch of institute, in structure of which four scientific divisions
