The Western Ukrainian Economic-Legislative University (ZUEPU) has started its activity in Bukovina in 1991 as the Ukrainian Free Institute of Management and Business (UVIMB), and since 1995 as the Economic-Legislative Institute in Chernivtsi (EPICH).
The University was re-registered in 2003 on the base of Ivano-Frankivsk faculty of jurisprudence and business economy that has been functioned as structural subdivision of the EPICH since 1992.

Presently the EPICH is a separated structural subdivision of the University. All specialities of the Western Ukrainian University have been accredited: accounting and audit - by fourth level, and finance, business economy, jurisprudence - by third level.
For students of the University and its subsections there are deservedly conditions: computer, criminalistics and scientific-practical and educational-methodical laboratory of administrative accounting, audit and examination; the specialized laboratories of foreign languages, accounting and audit, business economy and marketing, Ukraine study.

The teachers of the University conduct research work by following directions: Management mechanisms by innovation development of companies (developed jointly with the Institute of regional researches of the NAS of Ukraine) and Legal and economic problems of development of small and medium business in the cut of regional aspects of Prycarpathia and Bukovina. The results of researches are published in educational-methodical manuals and other editions. The students of the University actively participate in scientific researches.
The employees of the University for the last several years published 7 monographs and 11 manuals and textbooks.

Having the high level of preparation, over 60% of graduating students of the university work by speciality in commercial structures as well as 15% - in government establishments and organizations, over 15% opened own business and certain part works abroad, in particular in Germany, Israel, USA, Canada, Great Britain, and somebody continue to study here.
The graduating students of the university defended six and prepared to defense five candidate's thesis.
Doctor of Engineering Sciences, Professor Yaroslav V. Gryta is a founder and rector of the Western Ukrainian Economic-Legislative University. Chief of department of economic mathematics and information systems of the University, author and co-author of more than 150 scientific and scientific-methodical publications, including 8 monographs, 5 textbooks and manuals, member of the specialized doctoral council of the National University «Lviv Polytechnics».

The working results of the university collective have been marked by numeral diplomas and rewards of the Ukrainian Fund of scientific-economic and legal cooperation, Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Association of Educational Establishments of Ukraine of not state form of property, Olympic Committee of Ukraine, Ivano-Frankivsk and Chernivtsi regional state administrations.
