The institute was founded in 1956 by governmental regulation on the base of independent departments of Crimea branch NAS of Ukraine.At the present time it is the single scientific and research establishement. Total area - 3459 sq. m. Production facilities - 1564 sq.m.,including main building - 908 sq.m.

Scope of activity:
- execution of scientific and research, development works;
- development and improvement of specification methods;
- mapping of environment.
