Kirovograd Medical College named after Ye.Yo. Mukhin

Two hundred twenty years ago the medical-surgery school was founded in Yelizavetgrad (now Kirovograd) that has prepared 255 doctors and low-grade medical workers for already 10 years, while during XVIII century 2000 doctors got medical education in Russia or every eighth graduating student of the medical school graduated from Yelizavetgrad Medical-Surgery School.
Kirovograd Medical School was to become the heir of that glorious school; it was founded in 1928 and later it was named after prominent graduating student, teacher of school, first dean of medical faculty of Moscow University Yefrem Yo. Mukhin. In July, 2000 the college is licensed as higher educational establishment of I-II levels of accreditation with rights to prepare specialists on the base of full and junior secondary education. Eight departments function in the college: medical, nurse, obstetric, medical-dispensary business, pharmacia, nurse Bachelor's programme, department of post graduate study and department of pre-entrance study. The collective of the college is 120 teachers, including two professors, 13 candidates of sciences, deserved doctor of Ukraine and four deserved teachers of Ukraine. Teachers of the medical college are authors of textbooks, manuals and programs on different subjects, by which students of medical educational establishments of Ukraine study.
Deserved Doctor of Ukraine, Candidate of medical sciences, Associate professor Petro I. Sydorenko runs the pedagogical collective of the college for more than ten years. All efforts of director are directed on perfection of educational process and high-quality preparation of specialists.
The feature of the educational process in the college is its professional orientation. Production and externship are held under direct guidance of leading specialists of medical-preventive establishments; in fact 24 offices of clinical practice function on the base of medical establishments. During summer vacations the excellent students work medical assistants in International Children's Center «Artek».
The best teachers and students of the college get nominal prizes and grants of Ye.Yo. Mukhin for special successes in educational work and professional trade. The results of participation of students and graduating students of the college in Ukrainian competitions of professional trade prove high level preparation of junior medical specialists.
Many students perform scientific-searching and research works. For this purpose all conditions are created in the college. Academic rooms and laboratories are equipped with modern audio- and video technique, two computer laboratories and library. The student's life is also completed: dining-room and dormitories for 650 places operate here.
The detachment «Mercy» and group «Charity» function in the college for a long time; it members are organizers of help to children of boarding-school, House of Baby and House of Child for St. Nikolai Day, Children's Day, Easter and Christmas holidays. The students-volunteers take care of problems of invalids and war participants, offering medical-social and domestic help to them. The students of the college can fully pass their leisure. They are kindly invited by Youth Club «Scythian», Club of Legal Knowledge, KVK «Persen», vocal, folk-lore and choreographic bands. Traditional events in the educational establishment are weeks of departments, contests «Miss of the college», «Autumn varnishing day», «Star shower of talents», «Andriyivski evenings», «Easter meetings», meetings of literary living room, international student festivals. The students of this establishment are laureates of Ukrainian contests «Hippocrates Lyre» and «Family creation». The sense of patriotism of student youth is educated by Museum of College History and Ethnology Museum. The student core group of this establishment organizes exhibitions, meetings with interesting people and excursions (in particular, in Nadia farm, M. Pirogov museum-farmstead in Vinnytsya; Kyiv).
The sector of sport and health cares of physical development of college youth. The students are winners of Ukrainian Olympics, Olympiads and European championships. In particular, the graduating student of the college Yana Makovoz became European Champion of karate-do in 2005.
The information tribune of the educational establishment is monthly newspaper «Alma mater» with issue of 1000 copies.
The close cooperation connects collective of the college with Ukrainian Medical Stomatology Academy, Zaporizhzhya Academy of Post Diploma Study and National Pharmaceutical University.
