The Zaporozhia’s branch of the Moscow research institute on the industrial and sanitary cleaning of gases was created in 1965. A primary purpose is creation of scientific base for the decision of problem questions of rendering harmful extrass harmless in an atmosphere from industrial enterprises. Scientific subdivisions of institute were conduct the complex works that applied character from experimental researches to applying in industry of flow sheets and apparatus registration in cleaning processes of gas cleaning.

Directions activity of OJSC "UkrNIIOGaz"
- Participating in development of the national and of particular branch complex scientific and technical programs on the guard of environment.
- Project-designer, technological, project, research and promotional works, touching the guard of environment, in different industries of national economy.
- Taking of inventory of extrass of contaminents in a natural environment, taking of inventory of wastes, determination of class of danger of wastes, drafting of register maps and passports of wastes, delivery of recommendations and suggestions on the decline of harmful extrass.
- Development of complete set of documents, which ground the volumes of extrass in the atmosphere of contaminents for enterprises, organizations and citizens-subjects of entrepreneurial activity for the receipt of permissions on the troop landing.
- Lead through sanitary of hygienically researches of factors of production environment and labour process for certifying of workplaces for the terms of labour on the enterprises of Ukraine protection.
- Development of non-standard equipment.
- Development of project document, introduction and handing over of the industrial settings of the gas cleaning "turnkey".
- Development of basic data for planning of the gas cleaning settings of any types.
- Exposure on the enterprises of equipment, not according technology of cleaning of gases on ecological indexes, having a physical and moral wear with delivery of recommendations on modernization.
- Modernization of outdated and development of new control system electro filters, by slave filters with the use of microprocessor technique.
- Passport System of the gas cleaning settings and verification of efficiency of their work.
- Development and introduction of methods and vehicles of the dry and half-dry cleaning of gases from a dust and gaseous components on the base of intensive technologies.
- Development of the systems and settings of rendering of chemical poisons harmless, useless pesticides with authentication of composition of matters of pre-product.

A right for OJSC "UkrNIIOGaz" on implementation of works is confirmed the license of state Committee of Ukraine on building and architecture ? 204931 series of ABAS from Augusts, 23, 2005.

OJSC of "UkrNIIOGaz" has in the composition a research measuring center on questions of ecology and quality of products and materials (NIIC EKP), accredited on a right for the lead through of measuring of maintenance of contaminents in industrial extrass in an atmosphere, maintenances of contaminents in atmospheric air, in superficial, circulating, underground waters, maintenances of harmful matters in mid air of working area, and also determination of composition and properties of products, materials, soils and wastes.
