Ukrainian Engineering and Pedagogical Academy

UEPA is the only specialized higher educational establishment in Ukraine that trains pedagogical personnel for vocational technical training, providing qualification levels of Bachelor, Specialist and Master.

The Academy has been set up on the basis of the Ukrainian Extra - Mural Polytechnic Institute. (UZPI) that during 1958-1990 has been the leading educational establishment of the country in the field of training engineering personnel without discontinuing work. It functioned as the Republican Scientific Methodological Centre and performed methodological direction and development of educational methodological literature for extramural students in 21 technical engineering specialties. The gained academic and scientific methodological potential allowed the UZPI to be reorganized into Kharkiv Engineering Pedagogics Institute in 1990, and into the Ukrainian Engineering Pedagogics Academy of the IV accreditation level in 1994.

Today the Ukrainian Engineering Pedagogics Academy has:
- 8 departments: power engineering; social economical; machine building, radio engineering, electronics and computer systems; technological; mechanical technological; electrical technological; mining;
- over 11000 students;
- 12 buildings
- 5 hostels, canteens, cafeterias, a clinic, sports complex, sports camp
- 11 special subjects, among them 10 engineering, 23spesializations in " Vocational training"
- second higher education in special subjects "Pedagogies of Higher School " and "Intellectual Property"
- 2 specialized Academic Councils for the defense of Candidate theses;
- International Engineer-Pedagogue Training Centre
- Methodological Center of Engineering Pedagogical Education and Standards Development Centre of Higher Engineering Pedagogical and Vocational Technical Education
- 7 academic and research industrial complexes

Research work in the UEPA is carried out in two fields: psychological and engineering. Three research schools are working in the psychological pedagogical field:
- engineering pedagogics ( supervisor - Doctor of pedagogical sciences, professor E.E. Kovalenko)
- engineering psychology ( supervisor -Doctor of psychological sciences, professor S.P. Bocharova)
- training quality control (supervisor - Doctor of technical sciences, Professor A.T. Asherov)

Three research schools work in the field of engineering:
- assembly technology with the use of thermal effect ( supervisor -Doctor of technical sciences, Professor B.M. Arpentiev)
- power saving technologies in power engineering ( supervisor - Doctor of technical sciences, Professor S.F. Artyukh)
- radiation resistant coatings for atomic power stations ( supervisor - Doctor of technical sciences, Professor M.G. Ilyukha)

Post - graduate courses in 37 specialties, a Doctorate and 2 specialized Academic Councils for the defense of Candidate theses.
