Ukrhydroproject, Public Joint-Stock Company

Ukrhydroproject Company Limited was established in 1994, on the basis of the State Engineering Institute Ukrhydroproject founded on May 25, 1927. It is the major Ukrainian organization that specializes in engineering for hydropower and water economy sectors. According to designs prepared by the company's specialists, a number of projects have been implemented including cascades of hydro power plants on Dnieper and Dniester rivers, construction of hydro pumped storage power plants is underway on Dniester and South Bug rivers.

Specialists of the company are authors of designs of the major Dnieper - Donbas and Seversky Donets - Donbas canals, a number of reservoirs in Kharkiv, Donbas and Kryvyi Rih regions that enabled reliable water supplies to these regions.

In recent years, the company elaborated a number of new technical solutions, e.g. on rehabilitation of small hydro plants in Ukraine, on effective usage of hydro potential of Tisa river, on construction of wind power plants, in particular in Crimea. Also, the strategy of hydropower development in Ukraine has been revised.

From the year 1996, Ukrhydroproject company constantly increases works on engineering and investigations. At present, according to our designs, construction is underway at the sites of the Dniester Hydro Pumped Storage Power Plant that is the largest plant in Europe, and Tashlyk Hydro Pumped Storage Power Plant on South Bug river. It is planned to resume construction of the Kaniv Hydro Pumped Storage Power Plant on Dnieper river.

In 1995, a project on rehabilitation of the Dnieper HPP Cascade started, the first stage of which has been designed by Ukrhydroproject and was completed in 2002.

Ukrhydroproject company successfully entered the international market and in short time proved high qualification of the staff and competitiveness of its services, as well as the ability to successfully cooperate with its partners from Austria, Switzerland, Russia, China, Romania and other countries.

Substantial efforts are directed to designing the hydropower plants and offering our engineering services abroad. During the last decade Ukrhydroproject, as the main designer and technical coordinator, has carried out design works for ThakMo, Yali, and Can Don hydro power projects in Vietnam, San-Rafael hydro scheme in Mexico, Nasseriah Pumping Station in Iraq.

In 2000, Ukrhydroproject was ISO 9001:1994 approved Quality Management System was introduced in the company, based on requirements of the International Standard; in 2003 this system was certified as conforming to the new version ISO 9001:2000.

All design works in the company are being carried out using the modern computer systems and appropriate software.

For its advances in hydropower development in Ukraine, in 2002 the company was awarded a diploma of Ukrainian government. In November 2001, according to International Academic Rating "Golden Fortune", Ukrhydroproject was awarded an order "For Work Achievements" of the 3rd grade, and in August 2002 it obtained an award "Golden Stella" and Diploma in the nomination "Quality of the Third Millenium".

Ukrhydroproject company is a corporate member of International Hydropower Association (Reg. No. CS3-305) and a member of International Council on Large Electrical Systems (Reg. No. 220030007). Besides, the company is registered as a consultant in DACON system of the World Bank (Reg. No.2567).

Ukrhydroproject company has the necessary experience, facilities and high-skilled staff which enable the company to provide modern-level projects for hydro power and water management facilities with implementation of the technical solutions allowing to reduce the costs and time of the facilities construction and to optimize their operation.

Scope of business activities
Ukrhydroproject company offers engineering services in the fields of hydropower, water management, civil, industrial and other types of construction, including the following:
1.1. Engineering investigations:
- geological and hydrogeological;
- topographical;
- hydrological and stream-gaging;
- geophysical.
1.2. Design works for the following types of projects:
- hydropower and water management;
- navigation facilities;
- resources conservation and protection of environment;
- water supply systems (including main canals), and sewer systems;
- river flow control and flood protection development;
- wind power plants;
- tailing dumps for mining and processing enterprises;
