The Zhytomyr Chamber of Commerce and Industry started its operation in the late 1960’s as an expert organization (Commodity Expertise Bureau in the System of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the USSR) and was established as an independent organization, the Zhytomyr Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in April 1995.
The Chamber is an independent organization which is part of the system of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine. It unites companies and organizations of the Zhytomyr oblast with the aim of promoting the growth of the national economy, creating favorable conditions for enterprise and developing ties with businessmen from other countries. The Chamber conducts exhibitions, seminars with the purpose of setting partnership relations among businesspeople, introduces foreign delegations to the business community of the Zhytomyr oblast.
Today over a hundred organizations and companies are members of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the Zhytomyr region. Almost all of them are large and medium-size enterprises of Zhytomyr and the Oblast. A large share is formed by small companies with different ownership.
