The Institute is one of the oldest scientific institutions of the south of Ukraine, which began its activity from Zemstvo experimental field in 1889. Since 1956 it has been investigating into the problems of efficient use of irrigated lands, scientific support for agricultural production, creation of new varieties of crops for the Steppe area of Ukraine. Since 2000, the scientific activity of the Institute also addresses the issues of dry farming in the south of Ukraine.
Below are the main directions of the Institute research activity, which may be the basis for investment projects to be implemented jointly with foreign partners:
- scientific substantiation and development of irrigation for zones with arid climate;
- development of environmentally and economically viable farming systems targeted at maximal use of bioclimatic potential of an area, conservation of soil fertility, decreased of resource consumption and receiving high yields of competitive crops;
- theoretical substantiation and practical application of water- and soil-protective irrigation regimes of crops, newest soil treatment systems, fertilizing systems and plant protection systems;
- working out resource-saving technologies of growing basic agricultural crops;
- creation of fodder lands on erosion-dangerous tracts and other agrarian landscapes to provide domestic animals with low-cost and high-quality forrage;
- creation of new competitive varieties and hybrids of winter wheat, corn, soybean, alfalta, perennial grain crops, cotton-plants, tomatoes, melon and gourd plantations;
- growing seeds of high reproductions for duly renewal of verities and changing of kinds of agricultural crops for the regions with insufficient moistening.
- devlopment of comprehensive software to improve growing on the irrigated lands
We offer to start joint investment projects to grow seeds of high reproductions, cotton and patato that doesn't need any chemical treatment while growing
